Settling into Nursery!
We know that joining a nursery for the first time or moving from another can be quite hard for a child. Our aim is to help make that transition as seamless as possible from day one.
-
We provide settling-in sessions to help your child adjust to the new surroundings, unfamiliar noises, and meet other children and our Nursery Practitioners. These sessions are designed to make the transition as stress-free as possible.
-
Upon enrolment, your child will be assigned a Key Person. This individual will be responsible for your child's induction, liaising with you about their settling-in process, and providing updates about your child's development. The Key Person will be your main point of contact.
-
We offer four free hours for settling-in, which you can schedule according to your and your child’s needs. We usually recommend starting with two hours together with your child.
-
Your child’s Key Person may change if your child bonds with another staff member. This adjustment helps ensure your child feels comfortable and forms positive relationships within the nursery.
-
During the settling-in sessions, you will fill out an “All about me” form. This form provides the Key Person with insights into your child's preferences and needs, helping staff plan activities that your child will enjoy.
-
Bring a familiar item: A book, toy, or favorite blanket can provide comfort.
Be honest: If your child is older, tell them when you are leaving and that you will return later. Avoid delaying your departure.
Speak positively: Talk positively about the nursery and staff to build a positive association.
-
Yes, you are encouraged to ring as many times as you wish during the settling-in period. This helps alleviate any worries you may have about how your child is adjusting.
-
You will have the chance to meet and interact with existing parents during drop off and pick up times.
